The UK government may have been slow to adopt open source software but there are signs that the tide may be turning.

In February the CIO Council published a policy designed to stimulate the uptake of open source across the public sector.

This is the Lyons Electronic Office - LEOII/3 electronic programmable storage computer which was first demonstrated in 1958.

Just 13 of the Leo II devices were built and it was one of the first commercially sold computers, used by the Ford Motor Company among others.

Vodafone has revealed it will be the third mobile operator to offer Apple’s iPhone in the UK and Ireland.

The announcement follows hot on the heels of news yesterday that rival network Orange has signed a deal to sell Apple’s handset in the UK, ending O2’s exclusive deal.

Dell has announced its Latitude Z laptop aimed at business customer.

The ultra-thin laptop measures 16-inches across, and is 14mm at its most narrow point and has the ability to charge wirelessly - a first for the laptop market.
